I have been married to my wife, April, since 1992. She is more than just a helper to me but a true partner in life as well as in ministry. We have been blessed with three amazing children and four awesome grandchildren,  I am an ordained minister with the Indiana District Assemblies of God. This is our home church and a place where we have been discipled and trained for the positions we currently serve in. Our ministry philosophy is very simple. We feel God has equipped us to “love God and love people.” We believe that we are to be the hands and feet of God, to reach out to the people He loved enough to give His Son’s life for. We are to spend and be spent sacrificially with the sole desire of leading others closer to Christ. It is an honor to lead First Assembly in preaching the Word, reaching the lost, making disciples, and continuing to adapt existing ministries to ensure their effectiveness. 

Carla Bowling

Children's Pastor

Carla Bowling has served as church secretary since the fall of 2003 and as the children's church director since 2000. She has been a member of Covington First Assembly since childhood and began serving in children's ministry as a teen. With a heart for kids, the focus of our kids ministry is to equip children to live a strong, focused Christian life in today's society and to help them put into place a foundation of values, character and discipline that they can continue to build on throughout their lives. Carla has been married since 1981 to her husband, Tony. They have 3 adult children and  many grandchildren. Carla is a credentialed minister of the Indiana District Assemblies of God.

 I have been a member of Covington First Assembly since 2002, and was called to Youth Ministry in Junior High. In the year of 2012 I was an intern at Covington First and started my schooling to become credentialed. The following year I married my wife, Amanda, who is also very passionate about teenagers and younger kids. My heart is not only for the teenagers but the town of Covington. I want to pursue God daily to know Him more and through that I want to pour out into others. My philosophy on ministry can be summed up with the lyrics of Testify to Love by Avalon "For as long as I shall live, I will testify to love. I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough. With every breath I take, I will give thanks to God above. For as long as I shall live, I will testify to love."
